Susan Zimmermann is Ghanaian/Swiss, and mother of two. She’s making a childrens’ brand that creates awareness and connection to clothing; establishing a Fibershed in Switzerland; and, works part time at Beldona as project lead for sustainability. We visited the family in Zürich, Kreis 4 and had a chat.
What did you miss most during the lockdown?
Going to concerts and dancing in a room full of sweaty people (and I still do).
What did you discover for yourself during the lockdown?
Breathwork and guided meditations.
Which film would you like to see again?
«Café de Flore».
What would you cook first in a new flat?
Pasta with tomato sauce so the kids automatically feel at home (that, or oatmeal cookies).
What is your greatest luxury at home?
Reading when the kids are at home (and awake) or taking a bath by myself.
Which work of art would you like to hang or put up at home?
«The space congregation» by Tau Lewis.
Do you have plants at home?
Yes, but not enough.
What do you always have in the fridge?
Butter.
If your home could wander in the night - where would you most like to wake up?
In Ghana.
What is home for you: the place, the friends, the language, the food...?
Definitely the people. I remember the first time I really felt at home somewhere was in Geneva, and it was because of the people.
Where can you get the best vegetarian food?
Hands down, «Gül Restoran».
Your favourite series?
«The new pope» or «Insecure» can't choose.
