enSoie meets: Christine
Christine is wearing the beige enSoie Alison coat.
enSoie: What outfit from your youth do you still remember?
Christine: There are quite a few. One was a striped dress in royal blue and canary yellow. My grandmother was a seamstress and collected fashion magazines; the illustrations were hand-drawn. When I was fourteen, I discovered this dress. We travelled from Basel to Liestal, where there was a fabric factory with many leftover materials. She sewed the dress for me overnight. It was shirt-dress in style, with a dropped waist and a pleat at the front. It was very comfortable for riding my Solex moped.
Which piece in your wardrobe carries the strongest story?
At the moment, it’s a salmon-coloured silk dress from enSoie. The dress shimmers like a fish in sunlight. It sparkles at the opera, yet feels light and cheerful in the garden when paired with trainers. It has even travelled to India. The dress doesn’t distract you from your surroundings; it allows you to remain present wherever you are.
