enSoie meets: Felah

Felah is carrying the new Proverb Daisy Bag and one of our classic Cabas bags.

enSoie: What are your very first memories of clothes?
Felah: My first real fashion memory is my mother’s wardrobe. In the 90s she dressed incredibly well, wearing colourful dresses, strong blazers and always heels. Much of her wardrobe came from the Brockenhaus and, looking back, that is probably where my obsession with second-hand fashion and finding unique pieces began.

Are you loyal to certain brands or designers?
Not particularly. I am not loyal to specific brands or designers. I mostly shop second-hand and care more about the cut, shape, colour, and fabric. Something simply has to speak to me. If it looks good, I will wear it, regardless of the label.

What would you like to explore next in your style?
My parents are originally from Haiti and I did not grow up feeling deeply connected to the culture. The next step in my style journey is to explore that connection, especially this summer. I would like to dress in a more womanly way, refined, intentional and confident. I am drawn to Afro-modern and Afrocentric elements such as headwraps, statement earrings and bold silhouettes, combined with subtle Swiss-inspired simplicity. Afro chic with a Swiss twist.

What city or place has influenced how you dress?
Switzerland and New York. Switzerland gave me a love of tradition. I wear the Appenzell belt proudly. New York taught me about styling. I lived there for twelve years and learned to be creative, especially when money was tight. The city’s mix of cultures remains a constant source of inspiration.
