enSoie meets: Flaka
Flaka is wearing the new Capri sunglasses and the classic Leo dot wool scarf.
enSoie: What are your very first memories of clothes?
Flaka: A red velvet dress with a white collar, a babydoll shape. I must have been about four. I felt like a princess.
Is there a piece you own but rarely wear?
Yes, a Balenciaga sculptural floral silk jacket bonded to neoprene by Nicolas Ghesquière, Spring RTW 2008. It has archival collector value.
The occasion to wear this exquisite piece was, and probably never will be, quite good enough. I wore it once at a bar during Gallery Weekend in Berlin and nearly died a thousand deaths as drunk people with cigarettes passed too close.
What city or place has influenced how you dress?
Former Socialist Yugoslavia. I’m obsessed with workwear, uniforms, and the colour brown.
Flaka Jahai captured by Linda Gabriel, produced by Dayadi Müller.
